Some highlights of our trip so far...

Meeting two pastors who live in the mountains. They literally have nothing and have a small church made out of bamboo. They are powerful men of God and they prayed that we would not go hungry in Canada. Wow.

Having the kids love us. Or as Simon put it, they were like little love boxes being given to us.

Meeting many of our sponsor kids and seeing how they really live.

Having the leaders here tell us that our kids work so hard and have been such an amazing team to work with.

Hearing our kids cry out to God and lay down issues in their lives that are keeping them from moving forward with God.

Daniel and Reegan creating songs about anything and EVERYTHING. I'm sure you will have the pleasure of hearing them when we return:).

Worshiping God in the sinkhole. We brought God's light and truth to a place of extreme darkness.

We have been broken, and changed and are excited to begin this new journey in our lives. The trip is not ending for us; it is beginning.

God is good.

Last day in Tactic

We leave for Antigua today. It is hard to believe our time Tactic is over. We just got back from a time of worship with the children of Chemchay. They prayed for us, hugged us, and would not let go.

The last two nights were filled with powerful debriefs lead by Rocky, Karen and Les. Please ask about it when we return. God has moved in the hearts of everyone here. He has stretched us, and in some cases broke us. We are grateful for this. For we know that He has great plans for all of us, and He desires us to keep on pressing towards him.

Thank you for your continued prayers. We are greatful.

Jordan

A powerful day.

Hello folks back home. I apologize for the lack of writing. I can tell you of the excuses when we are home.

Today was a powerful day. We drove south up the mountain from Tactic to a village named Chacalte. There we met with two pastors whose hearts are the biggest I've ever seen. It was hard not to be moved when they shared their hearts; they speak with much passion and sincerity. Ask the students of this experience. After we visited two more pastors and their churches (both with incredible hearts for people who don't know the Lord), we broke into two groups; one group met some of their sponsor children. The Guatemalan people consider it such a huge blessing for us to be there...it is humbling beyond words. The other group continued on with work at the work stie.

They have all been great, singing much of the day.

There are a few students with some upset stomaches. We appreciate your prayers for quick healing. I am feeling under the weather today; a little case of the chills. Please pray for me too.

W e are about to have a debrief with Rocky and Karen; they are people I have come to greatly admire.
I, or another leader will sign back on tonight and give you more details of our experiences.

The Lord bless you all,

A full day.

Today started bright and early. We were out the door by 7:15 this morning. We were privileged enough to spend time at an elementry school during their worship time-Wow, they worship sold out. The children give it all they have. It was a blessing to be there. We had one of the the Guatemalan teachers share his testimony with us. You'll have to ask the kids about Edgar when we return home.

Next we arrived at Chicoy, another elementry school that Impact opened. Our purpose was for children's ministry. We taught them a couple songs, played games, shared a skit, and made crowns as our craft. The Guatemalan children recevied us with arms wide open. There were welcome signs for us when we arrived, stating that we were a huge blessing to them- I know it went both ways. Most hug with huge squeezes that make you never want to let go. Their smiles are contageous.

After the children's ministry we had an amazing lunch prepared for us by Harm and Linda; then off to the work site (the soon to be new junior high and high school/medical centre. Our work project was to dig a trench to divert the natural water flow from the middle of the property to the side. Your kids worked incredibly hard. Rocky, the man in charge of the work site commented on the high level of team work and said it was refreshing to see. He commented on how great their attitudes were and that he is really enjoying working with them. The kids worked from 2 to 5; they moved a lot of dirt to fill a trench and level out an area of ground. They were great.

Upon our return to home base we were still without running water (it was shut off earlier today- a planned shut off to work on the pipes- it is still off. Needles to say everyone is sweaty and dirty and cant' wait for the water to come back on.

For supper we went to Les and Rita Peterson's home. They have a beautiful home that backs a stream and the mountain side. We were fed like queens and kings and then lounged in the huge back yard; it was great.

I think that's it for tonight; everyone here is doing well, some have a slightly more red complection then others, but on the whole are well and i believe will sleep sound tonight.

We look forward to a hospital visit tomorrow, more children's ministry at Chicoy school, and some site seeing and soccer later on in the day.

Hello all!

We arrived in Tactic at approximately 4:30pm today!
All are doing well, and have a ton of energy.

Yesterday we landed in Denver and had a few hours to burn. We had lunch-most had McDonald's.
We got on the plane in Denver then sat on the runway for over an hour. We landed in Dallas 30min before our flight was to take off. We jumped on the sky transit and made it with time to spare!

In the Guatemala airport we were concerned with the amount of medicine we had in our bags. I believe your prayers got us through. Every single bag went through scanning, and the officials asked us if we were carrying medicine. We said we were, they went through our bags, and let us go! No hassel. God's hand was there.

Once out of the Airport Rocky and Karen Chupa, Eric, and Heather were waiting for us.
We spent the first night in SETECA in Guatemala City. In the morning we toured in Guatemala and then off to Tactic. A little over 4 hours later, and here we are. The kids are eagerly awaiting supper which will be served any minute now.

I will cut this short and attempt to add a picture before supper is ready.

Thank you for your prayers. Everyone is doing well and enjoying the weather!

Blessings,

p.s. stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures.
